01A small question
During an Airbnb stay, our co-founder Gustas noticed that some essentials were missing, including shampoo, and parts of the space weren’t as clean as they could have been.
It wasn’t a major disaster. But it raised a question: if he owned this property, how would he know whether everything was ready for the next guest?
02A familiar operational problem
He discussed the idea with his father, who works in real estate and had experience with short-term rentals, including cabins located away from the city.
The challenge was familiar. Communication between cleaners and property operators wasn’t always enough to understand what had really happened. Sometimes, checking a problem meant driving around 40 minutes to a cabin just to inspect the situation.
03A clearer opportunity
That conversation helped shape the idea behind Virafo: giving operators a better way to review photographic evidence of turnovers, identify possible issues, and understand property readiness remotely.
04Building Virafo together
Gustas knew building the company properly would require more than one person. He invited Timas Šegžda to join him, bringing experience in building e-commerce businesses and managing business operations.
Together, they began building Virafo around a simple principle: property operators should have better visibility into what happens between guests.
